ADB and ACWA Power Drive Wind Energy Revolution in Central Asia

FEATURED

In Short : The first wind power plant with battery energy storage (BESS) in Central Asia will be constructed in Uzbekistan by ACWA Power and the Asian Development Bank (ADB). The $51 million project will increase the nation’s capacity for renewable energy, produce clean electricity, and reduce carbon emissions.

Impact and Significance for Clean Energy:
The 200 MW wind farm with a 100 MWh battery system will offset more than 400,000 tons of CO2 emissions each year by producing close to 728,000 MWh of solar and wind energy equivalents. Uzbekistan’s aim to have 54% of its power come from renewable sources by 2030 is strengthened by this historic initiative. It also emphasizes how renewable resources, such as solar and wind, can lessen reliance on non-renewable ones.

Encouraging Strategic Growth and Innovation:
The project guarantees grid stability and a consistent supply of electricity by combining wind power and battery storage. It illustrates how combining renewable energy sources with contemporary technology can lead to sustainable development.

About ADB & ACWA Power:
Since 1995, ADB has given Uzbekistan $14.3 billion to support energy reforms, solar energy adoption, and green growth. Leading provider of renewable energy globally, ACWA Power keeps adding solar systems, wind farms, and battery solutions to its portfolio.
