BUSINESS & FINANCE

In Short : Vedanta Limited increased their use of renewable energy from 1.6 billion units in FY 24 to 2.6 billion units in FY 25, marking a significant sustainability milestone. Encouraging Cost-Effective and Clean Operations

A variety of green sources, including biomass, wind, and solar, are responsible for the significant rise in the use of renewable energy. A total of 1.9 GW of capacity is covered by Fuel Agreements (PDAs) that are prepared for implementation. Renewable energy is already being incorporated into daily operations by subsidiaries like Hindustan Zinc and BALCO, strengthening energy resilience and reducing emissions and operating expenses.

The Function of Biomass and Progress in Carbon Mitigation

In FY 25, Vedanta also used 650,000 gigajoules of biomass energy, which is enough to power around 50,000 households. With the help of innovative products, such as low-carbon zinc (EcoZen) and aluminum (Restora), the company has reduced CO2 emissions by around 28 million tons in the last three years, demonstrating its growing dedication to industrial decarbonization.
