In Short : In accordance with the CERC’s 2024 regulations, Ratle Kiru Power Transmission Limited (RKPTL) has petitioned for a transmission license for its vital interstate power evacuation plan. The project’s goal is to make it possible for electricity produced from the Kiru (624 MW) and Ratle (850 MW) hydroelectric power facilities to be transferred efficiently.
Regulatory Actions Are Commencing
The legal representative for RKPTL attested to complete adherence to the technical and procedural standards outlined in Sections 14 and 15 of the Electricity Act of 2003 during the hearing. Noting that all necessary paperwork had been filed, the Central Transmission Utility of India (CTUIL) endorsed the plea. In light of this procedural milestone, CERC has reserved its ultimate decision.
Implications for the Integration of Renewable Energy
The Ratle-Kiru evacuation plan would be greatly aided by the approval of this license, which would also greatly improve the northern grid’s interstate transmission infrastructure and make it easier to incorporate large-scale hydroelectric and renewable generation into India’s clean energy network.
