In Short : Through a transparent day-long electronic reverse auction (e-RA), IFFCO’s Paradeep operation won a 1 lakh metric ton per year green ammonia supply contract under the SECI’s SIGHT Scheme. This is one of the biggest single-site green ammonia transactions in India to date.

By providing IFFCO with a reliable, domestically generated feedstock, it lessens dependency on imported ammonia and promotes cleaner fertilizer production techniques, which are essential for lowering carbon emissions in the agriculture industry.

This deal promotes India’s larger decarbonization agenda in energy-intensive industries by replacing traditional fossil-based ammonia. Additionally, it demonstrates scalable, implementable methods for green project deployment, aligning with national ambitions such as the goal of producing 5 million tonnes of green hydrogen annually by 2030.
About the Project
Following earlier initiatives like Paradeep Phosphate and Kandla, which were all aimed at creating renewable feedstock ecosystems and green ammonia production capacity for India’s fertilizer industry, this is the second project (“Project-II”) under SECI’s SIGHT Scheme in Paradeep.
