Reliance Infra Wins NHPC

How Will the 390 MW Solar Plant Impact Renewable Energy?

ENERGY STORAGE

In Short : NHPC has granted Reliance Infrastructure a Letter of Award for a solar power project that combines a 780 MWh battery energy storage system with a 390 MW capacity. The contract represents a major expansion of its renewable energy portfolio and was obtained at a competitive pricing of ₹3.13 per kWh.

Project Specifics and Renewable Qualifications

The awarded project is a component of a bigger NHPC tender that was roughly four times oversubscribed and attracted 15 businesses. When it is operational, it will strengthen Reliance’s position as the leading provider of integrated solar-plus-storage infrastructure in India by adding over 700 MWp of solar DC capacity and 780 MWh of storage to their renewable pipeline.

Leadership in the Industry and Strategic Scaling

With this victory, the total clean energy assets of Reliance Group will surpass 3.5 GWh of battery storage and 3 GWp of solar capacity. This puts it well ahead of rivals in the rapidly growing solar-plus-storage market and demonstrates its dedication to helping India’s energy transformation by implementing solar on a broad scale.

Impact and Significance of Clean Energy

This significant event furthers India’s transition to dependable and plentiful renewable energy. Integrated battery systems provide dispatchable solar power, which is essential for resolving intermittent generation issues, and help balance grid variability. Being a leader in this field will help Reliance meet peak demand, improve grid resilience, and accelerate the transition to low-carbon power.
