How to Achieve 50% Green Cover in Telangana by 2047

BUSINESS & FINANCE

Five August 2025, Hyderabad — A comprehensive climate strategy and a citizen-centric plantation effort are supporting Telangana’s ambitious environmental aim to increase its green cover to 50% by 2047.

The Vision and Strategy

A three-pronged climate action plan was presented by Telangana Governor Jishnu Dev Varma with the goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by integrating sustainability into the energy, transportation, building, industrial, and small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) sectors through increased use of renewable energy sources and energy efficiency initiatives.

Green Cover Objective: 50% of Land by 2047

This roadmap’s bold afforestation initiative, which aims to cover 50% of Telangana’s territory with trees or forests by 2047, is one of its main objectives. In order to encourage active engagement, the Forest & Environment Department is responsible for spearheading extensive reforestation initiatives supported by public awareness campaigns, particularly including women, students, schools, and colleges.

Planting Trees in the Community: Vana Mahotsavam Attends Mass

Telangana is turning its yearly planting event into a large-scale social movement under Vana Mahotsavam 2025.
