What Does GR Infraprojects’ New Project Mean for Madhya Pradesh?

In Short : REC Power Development and Consultancy (RECPDCL) awarded GR Infraprojects Limited a significant contract to build a transmission network for the removal of 2.5 GW of renewable energy from the Madhya Pradesh Special Economic Zones of Rajgarh (1,500 MW) and Neemuch (1,000 MW).

Technical Elements and Project Scope

Building a 400/220 kV substation at Handiya with two 500 MVA transformers and two 125 MVAr bus reactors is part of the project’s scope. The plan calls for the construction of new 220 kV line bays for renewable connections, the establishment of a new 220 kV bus section, and the use of three 500 MVA 400/220 kV interconnecting transformers to increase transformer capacity at Neemuch.

Financial Structure and Delivery Model

The build-own-operate-transfer (BOOT) model of the contract has a 24-month completion period following the creation of the special purpose vehicle. It also includes a 35-year operating and maintenance duration. The project’s ₹3.67 billion annual transmission fees underscore its long-term strategic importance to the state’s renewable energy infrastructure.
